Alamo last offer

Just reveived an email special from Alamo $20 off weekly rental good until August on standard size or larger. I went in entered all the information and it came up COUPON CANNOT BE USED ON THIS RESERVATION. I CALLED TO SEE WHY AND THEY SAID BLACKOUT DATES APPLIED. OUR DATES WERE 7/1/12---7/17/12. The Full-size was quoted at $146.00 without the taxes. So after talking to Alamo Reservations I went back in as soon as I hung up and enter same info this time it came up ok but price was over $200 without taxes and surcharges. Don't know if it is a game or not????? Way out on line. :<;

What am I doing wrong. I go into Alamo stie enter all my information on insider member and then start the rental preocess. The code for a $15.00 disocunt is already in the box. I enter the dates and the only discount that shows up is the 10% prepaid one. There is nothing listed under Alamo Member discount. It says coupon not good on this rental I tried all types of cars and it still will not accept the coupon for the $15.00. Can anyone give me so help as to what I'm doing wrong. Reguardless alamo is very high for the week's rental to start with 7/10/12----7/17/12
Tired of wasting time. I just rented off Hotwire $189.99 for the week. Guess it the hot--humid weather that got to me and the nerves. Usually will play around a few times a day checking. Then I firgured if a few dollars on a rental ($30/$40) is going to wreck me I should just stay home. Done deal!!!
I JUST CHECKED ALAMO ALSO FOR 7-26 FOR A WEEK. IT ALSO CAME BACK SAYING COUPONS NOT ACCEPTED.
Alamo use to be very easy to rent from and usually offered very competitrive pricing. They use to offer $30 off coupons which they have cut in half and then to top it off you have problems trying to use them. I sent them a letter prior to this week and they gave me some answer like Alamo offer a standard 10% off rate when the discount is less than what is offered. I questioned about the pre-pay 10% and they never did anwer that question. Happens to quite a few busineses when the suits need to come up with a new ways to improve bottom lines they seem to get confused. We have almost always rented from Alamo but will take a close look at others from here on in. No big deal I know prices on everything has gone up so why not rentals but July rentals (usually cheaper)were really high.
Alamo is becoming a pain in the ass. They used to be easy. You need to keep checking there, they get some good prices for a few hours.
We went with Hotwire this trip 7/10---7/17 still have tow more trips this year and if almao is still operating like they are today we will go Hotwire again. We have air for 9/18----9/25 and Oct 30---Nov 6. Lots of time and things may or may not change but if it stays the same Hotwire or another rental company will get our business. Some amy experience a different result than what I did with Alamo but i was not satisfied with the pricing and coupon trouble I had. I emailed then three times with no change in results only double talk about the coupons.
