Allegiant Air Open Seating question?

I will be flying with my wife on Allegiant this summer and didn't pay for reserved seats. I have never used open seating before. I was curious from someone that has done this with Allegiant how does it work? I understand that Southwest boards in regions based on when you check in, either online or at the airport. How about Allegiant? I am trying to do some homework ahead time to see how hard it might be for us to sit together since I didn't pay the fee. Thanks for any help.
You might call Allegiant and ask them- but there might be a fee charged for the information.
Everyone who has paid goes on first. Once they're all on its everyone for themselves to get the seat they want.
Allegiant boarding generally works like this:

1. People w/assigned seats and "Priority Boarding" (an extra $10 on top of the assigned-seat fee, seems basically useless)
2. People w/assigned seats
3. Open seating for people with kids, old people, etc
4. Open seating for the rest of us unwashed masses, going in groups of 10 with a number assigned based on how early you checked in

So if you're in opening seating and really want to make sure you're sitting together and/or the bin hogs haven't taken all the overhead bins, either grab a kid to board with or check in for your flight as early as possible.
