Asked and answered above, based on news stories like this one.
Forthcoming, a fee based on a person's weight- count on it.
I love how Allegiant gives precise amounts of revenue that the new fee will generate. As if no one will now find a cheaper alternative. Idiot MBA's, correct? Thought they all worked for the casinos.

If I have to pay extra I might as well take one large luggage item for wife and I and no carry on's except for a small luggage item placed under the seat with medicine etc.?

I emailed their customer service and printed out the reply to take with me to the airport. I can see us getting there to check in and them trying to charge us for carry-ons.....

We have flown Allegiant the past few years to vegas. All seemed to find a reasonable ticket price. However, all the bullshit they are adding to ones ticket price may have to go back to Southwest.

Don't always blame the folks for the large carry on. It is the airlines JOB to make sure they easily fit the size parameters! Of which most airlines pay no attention to their own rules
No matter how big the receptacles for carry ons are made, the same morons will bring stuff just a little too big. Not their fault, of course. The airlines need to make them bigger...............and bigger.........and bigger...
Heck, why check any luggage, carry it all on. If there is eventually no room for passengers, that will be OK.
The luggage will have a blast.

jm002546 but so true.
Notice also that checked luggage is now 40 lb. (changed from 50 lb.). They just slipped that in with the carryon change but it was not advertised!
I wonder if the carry-on charge applies to Harrah's junkets????
I doubt it, but thats a very good ? Frank.

I already pack light, and usually don't fly on carriers that charge for bags.
If I did? They wouldn't make any money off of me..........

I'd be the person who only packs a backpack for in front of my seat, and thats it.
Wear disposable clothes. Rinse out undies, or toss the old ones as you go.

Or, Buy new clothes in Vegas, and then box it up. Mail it home. You can mail alot for $35.
There's a way to get around those carry-on charges.
