American/Alaska air beware

FYI

Being the old lady I am I often overlook or assume.

For my recent trip to Las Vegas I booked return flight

with American Airlines Volcher. They are partnered with Alaska Air now.

We shuddered from rental hub to terminal 1 American Air.

only one agent for first class check in.  We got to counter told

our flight with Alaska Air.  That meant walking to end of terminal.

Down to zero level get on another shuddle to terminal three,at end of that

terminal. Then back to center of terminal to security. More walking

to gate F15.
So unlike me read your ticket with all the airline mergers.

Alaska air gave us two $50 volcher for inconvenience

So, Patricia, you had a voucher from American Airlines, presumably from 'volunteering' your seat on an overbooked flight, or something like that?  AA gave you a voucher which you could use for a flight at another time, so you used it for this last trip; what you didn't know (and I didn't) is that AA is partnered with Alaska Air.  So does that give AA flexibility to put a passenger on Alaska at their discretion?  Or was there one of those problem' that delayed, or would have delayed your AA flight but instead they were 'able' to put you on the Alaska flight so as not to keep you on hold waiting for another AA flight to accommodate you?  Is it something like that?

Confusing enough?  Sorry if so.

I sure didn't know AA was connected to Alaska, though Alaska doesn't fly in or out of our airport, as far as I know.  Thanks for the heads up.

This is one reason why I drive rather than fly for any trip of 8,000 miles or less.

I just learned a week ago about the Alaska/AA partnership.  A pilot buddy of mine gave me a year long non-revenue flight pass.  I can do unlimited flights for a year at $80 round trip, but since he works for Silver, I can only fly similar caliber airlines...Spirit, Alligient, and surprising Alaska.  I learned that I can't fly a flight that includes an American leg.  Bummer.

I'm soon flying Indy to Boise via Seattle.  There was a good connection home through Dallas,  but the Dallas to Indy leg is American...so a no-go for me.

Hope it works out for you to get some of those $80 round trips.

"Can't fly a flight that includes an American leg."??  That almost makes no sense, AA and Alaska being 'partners.'  What about American Eagle planes?  Those don't count as smaller caliber?  Of course they want you paying the higher AA fares.

My volcher for AA.I received for a adjustment for a flight I took to Memhis.I went to AA terminal. That's how it all went bad. Nevertheless I contacted both AA and Alaska. AA blaimed Alaska. Then Alaska blaimed AA.

I think AA. At the end Alaska gave me two $50. volchers for my inconvenience.Better then nothing yet in future I will read my ticket

more carefully.

I have driven before. More then 10 hours from San Francisco.

A bit long.

My flight from San Francisco non stop. Yet the Las Vegas airport

long distance. Plus another shuttle to car rental.

we like a car for site seeing and a day trip. Because always stay At least a week and need break from casinos.

Patricia, when is your trip?
