Anyone used Payless or Fox lately?

Have tentative reservations with both Fox and Payless over New Years for less than $60 for 4 days. Much less than any other of the national chains. Has anyone used them lately? Should I be concerned about either one? Thanks.
I've used Payless several times without any problems, but, STAY AWAY FROM FOX, unless somebody can give you more up to date info. I used them several years ago, and said never again. Can't remember specifically what the problems were, but i know I swore to never use them again.
Had good experience with Payless, and they are right at the Rental car center.

Fox, you gotta take another shuttle.

Easiest is Best.

I've used Fox several times now in Vegas.....also used them elsewhere. They have been nothing but good for me. The downside as CLV indicated is that you have to spend 10 minutes to take the second bus. If the savings is worth 10 minutes of your time I wouldn't be the least bit afraid of them. If you don't save anything, why waste the extra 10 minutes?

For us it has been convenient to use Fox.....we have ended several of our last trips at SouthPoint, so it has been very easy to use them.

I used Fox for a pick-up at 9:30 AM pick-up on New Year's Eve. I would say that renting from Fox added an additional hour to the pick-up process as compared to using the Kiosk at Alamo.

The additional ride from the central rental location added about 15 minutes to the process (we just missed the Fox shuttle and had to wait 5 minutes for the next one) and the long line at the Fox rental counter added another 45 minutes.

The line didn't actually seem that long when we got there (about a dozen people), but it was excrutiatingly slow. Almost everyone had rental issues of some sort which tied up the agents. Not sure why there were so many issues, but I think it had more to do with the renters than Fox. I applauded the one person in front of us who was able to pick up his car without a fuss. Once we got to the counter things went smoothly for us too. We did end up with a dirty car with 54k miles on it, but I wanted out of there so bad I didn't complain.

By the time we left, the line had tripled and extended to the door. That is when one of the rental agents shut down her counter to take her lunch break. I would have been fit to be tied if I was still in line at that point.

The return went a little more smoothly, but they still seemed understaffed. I panicked when I pulled in at 5:00AM Tuesday morning and there were 3 people standing by their cars waiting to be processed and there was no agent in sight. The agent was working alone and processing groups of renters which required that he inspect several cars and then walk with everyone to the office to process the paperwork.

I understand that for a cheaper rental we are to expect a little inconvenience and longer waits but the overall impression I got is that no one had put any thought into how to do things more efficiently. If you are going to inconvience people, you need to at least try to make up for it by running a more efficient operation.

Never again for me.
Great report, vegasnow. I've been avoiding Fox's savings out of a fear of encountering what you describe. No thanks.
