Best rental car...

Heading to Vegas Feb 19-23rd. This is the first trip where we'll be renting a car. Obviously it's individual opinion, but who have you had the best luck with, company and rate wise?
Hertz (service), followed by Budget (service & price), followed by Dollar (price). I generally avoid Alamo (service), Enterprise (service), and Avis (price).
I have found that National with an Emerald Club membership (free) to have good pricing and service
My best experience is with Hertz, Thrifty and Dollar.

I go to vegas 1 or 2 times a year and have always used Payless because of price, not sure why you would use a higher priced company? Do the other other people on this board get better than the posted rate? The other companies seem much more expensive? Any comments
We always go with lowest price. Have used Dollar, Budget, Enterprise, Alamo, National, and Thrifty, and Payless and had no problems with any of them.
i like advantage which i think hertz owns. they have great prices usually. i am getting a car from them feb. 15-18 for $77.96 total for the three days with a AAA discount. it is not a economy nor a compact but the next one up from that a nissan or similar. i thought that was a good deal.
I'm most probably in the minority, but I usually rent from Enterprise when I am renting a car. I've used them exclusively in Las Vegas for the past five years. They might not have the best rock bottom price, but I check several times before my trip and have had good luck in getting a lower rate than my initial booking, which has been competitive. My waits at the counter have been minimal the last 6 times, usually around 5 minutes at the counter and I am off to get the car. It's been a while since the last time that the counter person has tried to give me the "hard sell" on an upgrade or optional insurance. I've only had one car in the past 3 years that I didn't like to drive.

Problems: Picked up a car three years ago, drove out onto LV Blvd, my son opens up the console and pulls out a small bag of 'weed', which I immediately grab and toss out the window. When I returned the car a couple of days later I sternly (and loudly) complained to the Enterprise people. A couple of days later I got a call from the regional manager who offered a profuse apology and gave me a free week's rental the next time I was in town; which they honored with no problems, a couple of months later. Last year I reserved an intermediate sized car and wound up getting upgraded for free to a Lincoln Town car. I had to add air to one of the tires twice during my week's rental. I mentioned it to the lot attendant when I returned the car; primarily out of concern that the next person to rent the car would end up with a flat tire somewhere in the middle of nowhere. The attendant knocked off part of the rental price without me asking...I ended up paying a total of $85 for the Town car for a week. You talk about one sweet ride....

I usually make 3 to 4 trips a year out to Las Vegas and rent a car each time. My experiences with Enterprise have been positive for the most part and they have always treated me fairly. I rented a car with them last week; no line at the counter, spent maybe a total of two minutes with the counter person, walked out to the lot, spent about 5 minutes checking out the car and doing the paperwork and was driving out the door probably within 10 minutes after I stepped off of the bus in front of the rental facility. The attendant was there to open my door when I dropped off the car, spent about 2 minutes getting my receipt and headed for the bus.
