cab from airport to car rental facility

Can I take a cab from the airport to the Airport car rental facility? It's a pain to take the shuttle with bags.
Also about how much is the charge? Thanks for your help. L.
I suppose you could. My guess is the cost would be about $10 which would include the automatic $2 airport surcharge. (And tell them.... YES, I want to take the tunnel !!!!)

You can do whatever you want, but I'm nearly certain that at the pickup area right outside the terminal that the shuttle driver will load your bags onto the shuttle from the sidewalk for you and then once at the rental facility will unload your bags from the shuttle to the sidewalk for you. In fact if I recall there is a sign on the shuttle requesting people to allow the driver to do this for you. So I'm not sure what you gain by having a cab take you there (bags or no bags). It's not like you will save any significant time as there are no stops along the way that you can avoid by taking a cab instead of the shuttle.

It's a pain to take any form of transportation with bags, but I don't see how a cab in this case mitigates that pain anymore than a brief shuttle trip.

Also you forgot to check if (when you return the car) you could get a cab FROM the rental facility back TO the airport (which I assume you will want to do), since apparently "if it's a pain to take the shuttle with bags from the airport, it would likely be an equal pain for you to take the shuttle back to the airport from the rental facility"?

The shuttle drivers will load/unload your bags from the bus. Many cab drivers think that helping you with the bags consists of opening the trunk.

We always tip the shuttle drivers for handling the bags; not a lot of people seem to do that.

I agree straub66 and hoops2. The shuttle is designed to be as simple and as painless as possible, we find it to be so, and as you know IT IS FREE. Go out door 10, cross the street, and load onto the next shuttle. The driver always assists with the bags on and off and we always tip one dollar per bag. I can see no upside in taking a cab.
