Car rental consolidated facility charge now $3.75/day?

Shame on those politicians for passing on fees to out of town residents instead of making their own people pay. Maybe they could close a few schools so they could knock the fee down to $2 a day. I'm sure that would greatly increase the number of visitors.
The reason these costs are passed on to us is simple. Those locals you feel should pay are trying to pay rent/mortgage and feed their families in about the worst hit city in this down economy. We on the other hand, seem to have disposable income to "throw away on vacations!" Check your local government and see what is/has been built on "tourist taxes." Afte you've done this, run downtown and tell them at cityhall that you would much prefer to pay for these improvements yourself instead of passing on the cost to tourists!

Good Luck!

Point I was trying to make was with all the increases airfare being the major contributor Las Vegas at this time can hardly afford to keep increasing everything Food prices, Hotel resort fees, and surcharges on Rentals and really expect this to cure all. Air prices and gasoline you will see everywhere but for the others I just feel it is bad timing. There are just too much competetion in gambling today tha tis offered closer to home. We usually go 6/7 times a year. This year will be only 4 trips to Las Vegas that are already booked but the others two will be local and maybe one to AC. For the past 20 years we have never even considered booking air and room together but air prices from Pittsburgh alone makes booking the combo more attractive.
Anyone who stays away from Vegas because it is going to cost them an extra SEVENTY FIVE cents a day for a car rental shouldn't be going there in the first place.

The biggest problem is there are way too many 75 cents more in everyday living. There is no stoppage in sight. Whether it be an everyday food purchases, gas purchases, or a utility increase. It not seventy five cents on rental car fees. It a combination of quite a few things over past several months that will have an effect on LV----resort fees, food costs, gasoline increases and huge airfare increases will cause quite a few to cut back on trips and look closer to home. Like I said usually 6/7 trips since 1999 and we are looking at only 4 this year. Las Vegas and AC do not hold the lock on gambling as they have in the past. We have 3 casinos within a 27 mile drive now. Two office live horse racing and the other offers greyhound racing. Yes by far LV is the best with AC running second but when it comes to gambling it's gambling. We have opted to visit AC at least once this coming year and I'm sure 4 trips to LV we will be able to handle. So I can tell you it not the 75 cents a day on a car rental it goes just a little deeper than that. We use to try to budget our trips within $600/$700 dollars but that has went by the way side as of late.
For the 1st time in 5 years, we didn't go to Vegas for my wife's winter break from school. Between the airfare and rental car costs, we would have spent nearly $1k before even stepping into the casino.

so, we went to Atlantic City for the first time. Cost about $100 in gas, paid $50 a night at Caesar's, and used some ACG coupons for free play and free buffet. Wasn't great, but we got in our gambling fix, spent about $750 less on travel, and are now getting free offers for hotels, buffet, and a slew of free play. For 2 or 3 days, I can handle that (although it really is a nasty city, from what we saw of it).

We all know that 30 years from now and the bonds are paid off we will still be paying the fee.

Las Vegas is the only city where I am charged taxes when using coupons for free car rentals
