Car rental in Phoenix or LA

Just thinking outside the box....wondering if it might be cost effective to fly into Phoneix or LAX  and rent a car there and drive to Vegas.     Sure it adds an extra 8 hours of driving but you can make that interesting with pit stops in Laughlin  or Hollywood or something.

Likely gas money would eat into whatever savings you get from the rental price (if any) but then again Vegas taxes and base rates are insane so maybe not.

Going to play around a little and see how the math works out.....

Your thinking reminds me of the concept of "new math". And makes just as much sense...

Try renting from the Dollar location on Swenson St.  It can be about 1/2 the price.  The Uber ride may cost $8.00 each way.  Most times the employees offer to drive me back to the airport.

Yeah, I checked them.   I think I just picked a bad week.    Prices dont seem to be fluctuating much.    Looks like Phoenex and LAX prices and taxes aren't any better.

10 days in early October is getting me close to $400 for the rental....plus figure another $40 in gas....and then whatever parking fees might occur.    The whole Uber/Bus-Pass idea is starting to look more and more attractive.

What dates?  I just checked on AAA for 10/5-10/14 and found a few rates under $200.  This was at an off airport site.

Just got a nice drop....booking Budget through Southwest Airlines.

10 days   10/3-10/12

$265 includes all taxes and fees

I don't know if you have ever driven in the LA area before but the traffic is pretty terrible unless you leave very early on a Sunday. It may not be worth saving a few bucks.
