Car rental Rates

I do have fastbreak and it is nice to bypass the March Madness car rental lines!

Just an update on this, I arrived on Wednesday morning, my name was not on the fastbreak monitor and there was a massive line of at least 50 people waiting for the counter.  I proceeded to the garage counter where there was 1 person being helped and they gave me my car in less than 5 minutes.

One peave however, they gave me a brand new Hyundai Tucson without a license plate.  Nevada law has them affix the temporary registration on the passenger side windshield in the front of the car.

I was never pulled over, but I hate having any potential reason a police officer could make up to pull me over.

Also, the guy ahead of me was getting his car replaced since he noticed his temporary registration expired during his rental.  Good for him to check, mine expired 4 days after my rental period.

Perfect example of the benefits of joining a free program.  Skip the line every time.  I have had a couple of issues with Budget the past 2 times I've rented.  In Charleston I got charged a fuel refilling fee of almost $100.  The charge didn't show up until about an hour after I returned the car.  I always choose the fill it up myself option and keep the receipt just in case.  Calling them led to nothing talking to India.  So I posted a negative Google review and that got their attention within an hour.  The regional manager blamed a "software glitch".  Maybe.  I stopped using the cheapo places like Sixt years ago, it was always a horrible experience (others are happy with them though).

I had the no license plate thing in San Diego last year.  No temp plate either, just a registration paper taped to the front windshield.  Didn't get stopped but wasn't happy about it anyway.

The first vehicle that Budget provided on one Vegas trip last year had an expired registration. It's just one of those things ( such as looking for dents / dings / scratches and taking photos) that we always do when renting a car. We had them switch out the vehicle to one with current licensure. Budget also has a mandatory car refill fee even if one brings it back full; it's in the fine print T & C's that customers provide gas receipts on returns.

It's all just another game .

The fee is not mandatory.  What's mandatory is having a receipt that you refilled the car,  although it's never been checked for me. As you said, it's in the T&C, But the fee is only "mandatory" if you do not refill the car.  The one time I was incorrectly charged the fee it was reversed.

There is a fee that is hard to get removed.  That is if you drive less than a certain number of miles (75?).   The assumption is that you didn't drive enough to need gas, so they charge you unless you show them a receipt for the gas fill up.  You have to seek out a rep and show them the receipt to avoid the fee.  That might be the fee involved here.

That's right, I forgot about the 75 mile thing.  I've never been under it for a car rental  but I could be next week.

Yes..the receipt is the kicker. I too was able to claim ignorance and avoided the fee due to the fact that I didn't have a receipt ( several months ago). There's perhaps a considerable number of Budget customers that don't check the charges at return..a good thing for Budget's revenue.

Already May. My visit mid June.Costco has economy car $365. For 9 days.

Alamo. I usually like Costco no hidden fee,s.Sometimes my son can get for

less because he gets work discount.
