Codes or Coupons for any rental cars needed

We will be in Vegas Oct 22 - Nov 8 and are looking for a cheap rental, do not mind returning and renting
again. Is there a Rent a Wreck in Vegas ?

We are two retired ladies so any help would be appeciated.

Thanks Sharon
Hi Sharon,

There doesn't appear to be a rent a wreck in vegas (no web presence - and a call to a number I found rang 10 times before I hung up).

I usually use Alamo or Budget for 2 reasons:
1) less lines/humans - faster to vegas fun with less hassle.
2) usually cheapest after using their coupon codes

if you're not signed up with these 2 online, you should do that first. I think Alamo is one sign up, and Budget is a sign up for club then join fastbreak (can't remember).

Alamo seems the slightly better company with slightly better fleet and slightly quicker 'out the door' ease, but sometimes Budget is cheaper.
Alamo codes that are good seem to be Costco code 7014627 and coupon code AD2359FDF. usually though you have to wait closer to your date to use more current coupon codes provided by alamo insiders.

for Budget, X443000 (entertainment member discount), although sometimes costco discount is cheaper W852863.

these codes will vary over time, and your mileage (ptp) will vary with these codes as well.

I'd look @ these 2 companies and rent the cheapest now. (Don't pay anything up front. Budget will charge you $10 to change a reservation that you've already paid for.) then do the same date check every now and then on both sites - if it's cheaper, book it and cancel the original.

when you get to the airport/rental facility, have your rental confirmation number, and your rental company membership cards (they'll mail them to you) with you. alamo has kiosks where you enter your info. Budget has a shack in the parking deck where you show the person your fastbreak card and reservation.

having said all this, Dollar is worth a look as well. sometimes their rates are just cheaper than the other 2. vegas4locals.com has a 10% discount if you click through.

hope this helps,

Perro

Here is a web site to get various codes for the different car rental companies: https://www.carrentalsavers.com/.

Vegas rental prices jump up and down a lot so keep checking. My guess is that your best pricing will hit around the end of September for your trip dates. I have found that using travelocity (www.travelocity.com) to check rates is handy. Then when you see a favorable rate, go to the car rental company web site and book it (don't forget to check for the discount codes).
Really at this point the last three trips we just used Hotwire. When I found a price that I felt was fair for a full-size (weekly) I just booked it. I finally got tired of playing games with Alamo and Dollar checking and then re-checking I said the hell with it. The past three or four years it was fun playing the pricing game but as of late Alamo and Dollar was all over the place with their pricing it became a hassel. Now after I book I never go into a rental car site.

Hi Merton,

Our dates are similar to yours end of Oct. thru early Nov and I just rebooked today with Dollar. This is my fourth rebooking so far for this trip and I've shaved 160.00 off the total.

Dollar and Thrifty rates were down considerably from the other companies about an hour ago. I got a lock low and go deal for a mid size for $126.62 for a week and 17.84 a day

No codes as the ones I have to try were all higher quotes

I check each company often and at various times day and night, weekend versus weekday all the way up to departure day ( try last minute savings option then).

Good Luck,
On my last rental, Budget bait & switched my car & after waiting for an hour gave me a car with no gas, which broke down several days later. My 3rd car had a refueling charge even though the car was returned full as well as a $100 charge for "other" that nobody could explain.

Even though I was promised a call to explain, I had to follow up on my own. For all that aggravation I was offered a $30 discount and a one day free rental only good at McCarren which expires before my next trip (and I had to fight to get even that)

You get what you pay for.

Usually I go with National. You can join their Emerald Club for free, get to pick your own car and their rates are competitive
