Credit Card?? Delta or Southwest?

The reason we chose the Delta card is we are 15 miles from their airport. We would have to drive 200 miles to the closest Southwest airport.
Alexlifeson, being frugal people, of course we use all the perks that come with it. Sorry about the Packers beating up your Texans last week.
Southwest. Just booked with RR card points for our April trip.

There are no baggage fees for the first bag for each person flying with you when you have a Delta Gold or Platinum Amex credit card.
wjkomo- while true about the first bag being free, factor in your card cost and see if the card is now worth the price. I personally check two bags each time I fly and enjoy not paying any bag fees.

Thank you for all the replies. I believe we will be going with Southwest for credit card. But will have to use Delta for other flights going outside mainland, if we go.
I've been getting a Lesson on SW CC lately. Dec.31 is coming up fast.............

Big headsup...........if you want A-List? ( I have it, and want again for next year and couldn't figure out why my flights weren't counting towards it) DON'T fly with Points!
Only paid-for Fares apply to A-List!

Basically, You need 25 One ways per year to make A-List.
Found out even though I flew more trips than last year, because half of my flights were purchased with points? I'm only 70% of the way to A-list.

Been busy booking Quick cheap- trips to Reno & Vegas to solve the prob.

So, just a headsup IF you Want A-List?
Watch out paying flights with Points!

What to do with all those points?
Will use Points mostly for spouse or kids flights from now on, and PAY flights will count towards my A-List.

Agree with bcc. Make sure you sign up for SW CC when they have the 2 free flights (50K points offer)
when you sign up.
Its been 6 months since I've seen that offer....maybe inquire When they will do it again? Good luck.

Yes, it is worth the price. My platinum card gives me one free companion fare a year which MORE than covers the $149 fee. From my location, these days, finding a roundtrip fare under $300 is rare, so paying a $149 annual fee for a $300 ticket is a great deal. The one bag each we take is also covered as stated before. I have yet to pay a bag fee in my lifetime. Having the free bag puts Delta's overall cost on par with Southwest. Depending on the dates, from here, sometimes SW is more expensive, sometimes Delta is more expensive. And note, nowhere in my post was I implying that it is the best deal for YOU. Can you now see why having this card is a no brainer for me? Would you pay $149 for a fare worth $300?
How many flights would it take to have the card fee worth it? What about 1-2 flights to Vegas a year?
Not having to pay any change fees and having ALL of the funds available (without having to pay another fee) for flights I am unable to take makes my SW Visa card a much better deal. There really is no comparison- the SW Visa card is the best deal going.

While I don't know all of the details of the Delta card, it seems the only way that it is comparable is IF you don't make any changes. I would rather have the flexibility to change or cancel a flight without a fee and have all of the funds deposited back into my account. For me, it's the SW Visa for sure
