Delta behaving oddly

Just returned home from Palm Springs and while at LAX, Delta asked for volunteers to give up their seat for goodies. I was first to approach the counter- they gave me a $300 travel voucher, $20 in food vouchers, put me on a flight 4 hours later, nice. I then asked for a one day pass (I only needed a few hours obviously) to the Delta Lounge- "Oh no! we never do that, the lounge is very special."

Odd behavior I though. All's well that ends well.

I think that's standard with all airlines. Renumeration for your trouble, money for a meal, a phone card also used to be given upon asking for one, but never admittance to their private lounge.
