Dollar Inventory

Was wondering how the Dollar inventory has been as of late. I had always used them from about 2004-2008, but the last time I used them they were just about out of cars. We had to stand around and wait for them to find one. I subsequently read about similar stories on this board. Anybody run into this as of late?

Rented from them three weeks ago, a Monday through Friday. Very healthy inventory on both days.

The inventory is fine but seems to be aging a bit.

I just rented from Avis, and noticed the same thing at Dollar..........mostly out of state plates.

Don't they rent cars from Nev. anymore? Where'd they all go?

Frankly, I don't want a Calif. plate when I'm here. If I did.......I'd drive MY car! lol

When I last used dollar in November there were cars, but they had instituted having a preselected car, I believe that they are doing this to ensure all cars are rented, including those that are not desirable. The last car I rented did not have power door locks. Am planning a trip in January, got a better price using Alamo, will try them instead.

How many miles does a typical Alamo Full size car have and what kind of cards to they have for Full size cars?

Also how is the picking process? Are the preassigned to you like Dollar is doing now? I rather pay more and pick my own.

Used Alamo last Oct. They just had me pick a car from a row of 4-5 cars. We had a Kia. It was fine. I think it had 25,000 miles. Clean and ran fine which is all I care about. The good thing about Alamo is they don't charge extra for additional driver who lives at the same address like just about everyone else. You may need to be a member of their club.
