Dollar up sell?

Why is dollar always about $8.00 more than my res? I have asked at drive out they never know, also the booth
they don't know all it does is take time to find out nothing.
I rent from Dollar on occasion, mostly in Florida, but I haven't experienced that.

Now that you're home, seems like a good question to present to Dollar. Maybe send them copies of your reservation and receipt and ask for an explanation. Let us know what you find.
If you made your reservations & claimed for airline miles/points they may charge you for these points/miles.

They might be adding emergency road service, that you didn't have in your reservation. Payless has been doing that.

We used Advantage on our last trip, first time. They tried OH SO HARD to add in Emergency Road Service, claiming it was now mandatory. I signed in their little space and wrote UNDER PROTEST next to it. The guy at the counter got mad and asked why I did that. Told him that I had told him THREE times that I had AAA Gold and didn't need their road service and when I got back home, I'd be sending a copy of my agreement, my original reservation and my complaint letter to their home office AND to the Nevada attorney general. He got mad, tore up the reservation and printed out a new one, without the "mandatory" road service. I told him that I was renting their vehicle and if it broke down, they had better send someone out to tow it or fix it. I would use AAA if need be, but it's their vehicle. I suspect if I use them again, they'll try the same thing....and so will I
Thanks for the info!
booked a dollar car for december. i put in southwest as my points buddy. looked at my
dollar reservation and there's something about charging an extra buck fifty a day to
recoup the SW cost. i got thursday 10am thru monday 10am for $100 12-6 thru 12-10.
will still look as you can cancel and rebook without a penalty

wayne
Ronnie, Did you book your car though AAA?
Waynes, did you use SWA for your dollar reservation, I am thinking of using Dollar,(first time) I have some of the same days as you in Dec, and haven't found anything good yet.
I had my AAA office book last year and got a really good rate thru Avis but again hassles after I was at the counter for "other mandatory charges"
Thanks.
