Don't rebook your Vegas flight just yet

Even though it looks like the shutdown may be ending, there's no timetable regarding when federal government functions will be fully restored.

One problem is that air traffic controllers were working without pay, and some got fed up and decided to stay home. So yesterday, Trump screamed at them and ordered them to "GET BACK TO WORK!!!", threatening, in his usual manner, to "dock" the pay that they've rightfully earned (but haven't been paid) if they don't obey his imperial order.

The controllers' union has responded in kind and demands that Trump keep his earlier (worthless) promise that the controllers would be paid. Now, chances are, they will ultimately be paid, though perhaps with some "adjustments" and/or "retribution," but that's very unlikely to happen in time for Thanksgiving travel. So ..your canceled flight will stay canceled.

Plan on driving somewhere for Thanksgiving, or staying home.

For those of you who object to the "political" content of this post, I hasten to inform you that the actions of the evil Orange Man, in this instance, have zero to do with politics--as do the repercussions of those actions in regard to air travel.

I would say this post belongs in the sink.

True, Trumpers won't like it.

Why? Air travel to Vegas in the coming weeks is a legitimate concern, and quite relevant. That the issue is due to the actions of politicians doesn't make it a "forbidden" topic.

Nurse 25 years for Veterans Administration.Only once one paycheck held back.I can't imagine without pay this long.

Me too, Patricia, 35 years.  Some doctors were furloughed but not nurses.  That does say something, doesn't it!!

It confirms for me what I've always thought, that the line between "doctor" and "nurse" is quite blurred, and the reality is that nurses are more vital to ongoing patient care than doctors.

Here in West Texas, it's hard to get a PCP, you're lucky if you get a Nurse Practitioner, which is good because they are usually better... :)

The Forums biggest, most frequent abuser of inappropriately posting Sink content in other parts of the Forum is now justifying his action of doing so. Apparently he thinks that the rule does not apply to him, while he complains about others who do the same. He is a classic hypocrite - "definition of HYPOCRITE.-- : a person who claims or pretends to have certain beliefs about what is right but who behaves in a way that disagrees with those beliefs."
