Downtown to Airport by taxi...

I see several airport to downtown threads, but what is the best taxi route from downtown to the airport? Also, what would be the expected fare?

I will add a cheapskate question. Would it be cheaper to take a cab to LVH, then take the tram to MGM, and then another cab to the airport? The reason I ask is I normally place a bet on my favorite baseball team at LVH each year and it got me thinking that going to LVH from downtown, placing my bet, hopping on the tram for $5, and getting a cab at MGM may actually be just as cheap or cheaper than going from downtown to the airport by taxi, despite the 2 tips etc. Am I way off base?

Best route to airport from downtown is Main Street (or LV Boulevard) to St. Louis to Paradise. Figure $22 plus tip.

Because of the extra flag drop, extra tip, and monorail fare, doing your taxi-monorail-taxi trip will cost you probably $6-$8 more. The taxi to LVH will be $12 plus tip, and the taxi from MGM will be about $11 plus tip.

You're not off base. You'll just need to decide if that extra expense and a lot of extra hassle will be worth it.

Thanks Chilcoot. That sounds like a fair estimation. I'll probably decide when to place my bet at LVH, once I am in Las Vegas. I see that the trip to the Airport is essentially the reverse of the the trip to Downtown from the Airport. Strangely, I have never made the trip from Downtown to the airport, while I made the reverse trip on several occasions. For some reason I had it in my head that a one way an issue. Good to know that this is not the case. Thanks again.
