Downtown to Rio/Gold Coast

What is the easiest (cheapest) way to go from downtown to the Rio/Gold Coast area minus a rental car? Is there a bus? How much would a cab be? Thanks.
It has been a couple of years, but we cabbed from Rio to downtown and it was about $15 + tip each way. Of course there were a couple of us dividing the fare. If you have time and are adventurous, you can take the Rio Shuttle to Harrah's/Flamingo (I forget which--I think Harrahs), THEN take a bus to get downtown.
The cheapest and easiest would probably be (but I'm not absolutely sure -- maybe someone knows better) to take the Strip Bus from Fremont & LV Blvd. to Flamingo and then the Flamingo Bus West to Rio/Gold Coast (or the Strip Bus to Harrah's and then the Harrah's Free Shuttle to Rio). You can get a 24 Hour Bus Pass for less than $10. There is a ticket dispenser right there by the corner of LV Blvd and Fremont Street just outside of the Heart Attack Grill (if I'm remembering correctly).

Or, maybe you can walk to the Bus Station on Bonneville and then from there there would be I think a few different options which might involve your walking further.
