E-Z CAR RENTAL

Just returned from Vegas and I rented from E-Z for the 1st time. There were no problems checking out or in.
Got a free upgrade to an Impala from an Elantra for the same price. Had the car 6 days and the total was $131.80. Will use them again.
Glad to hear that. I booked a car for 10 days in December for $153.96 including the "Goodman Taxes". I am concerned though there website clearly states you can not leave the state of NV. I am planning on going to AZ too so I am trying to contact them to see if an exception can be made.
I saw that too. It is strange because the only similar restriction I have seen is limiting travel to CA, AZ, NV, and Utah. I am sure you could get permission to travel to AZ but it might entail an extra charge. Please report when you hear back.

Why would you be "sure" of this? The restrictions are clearly stated. If the policy was to allow travelling to another state for an extra fee, that would be stated in the policy. What would the sense be of stating a policy if all one had to do was to ask to have the restriction removed?

Good point wjkomo. There might be some legal restriction that lowers E-Z's costs and allows them to rent for less with the restriction as the only adjacent to NV state they rent in is CA. However it appears to be a competitive disadvantage especially when including AZ which is nearby and would preclude driving over the dam for a look as many tourists might want to do. If and when vpoker reports back we will know for sure.
I called E-Z rental car at the airport counter directly. They informed me that I was able to travel to AZ and CA and for that matter for free. I was glad to hear that and informed him that the website stated to the contrary of what he said. I will only rent from them IF that exception is clearly put in writing on my signed car rental contract. I don't want to have any surprises after the rental is completed. I plan on putting over 700 miles on the car during my 10 day stay. I just hope it is not a car with 50K miles on it! Any first hand experiences to the mileage of the car rentals? Add to this my car reservation clearly states UNLIMITED MILES. There website states 150 miles per day with an additional charge for each mile above. I will also make sure that my contract states that point as well. A decent price for the rental since ($90 of the rental price falls to the "Goodman Taxes" - He owes me a free drink for paying for his city woes!) but buyer beware because the "High Road" is the best way to have a great vacation experience!! Thanks for all the input!!
Thanks vpoker but as you said be skeptical of what you are told on the phone. Be sure what you want to do is spelled out in the rental agreement or at least not precluded. Good luck.
If you took good notes of your phone conversation, you could draft a letter detailing just what the EZ rep said. Include in the letter a request that, if you got anything wrong, for EZ to contact you immediately so that it could be discussed. Then send it to EZ by email or fax so that the time of transmission can be confirmed.

If a dispute about whether you can drive the car out of NV or whether the car included unlimited miles comes up, EZ would likely have a terrible time trying to convince a decision maker that the reservation wasn't modified by the phone conversation as detailed in your letter. I'd be a very comfortable renter with that letter in my pocket.

Have a great trip, vpoker.
