Interesting. I just looked at Advantage (first time) and thier rates for my week in August are the lowest of the 4 that I looked at (Dollar by $70, E-Z by $7 and payless by $58). I may have to give them a look!!!!

If Advantage is the lowest..........book it champ.

I don't book strictly by price. I look at the big picture.
Most of the time Ez, Payless, Advantage........are Similar in price.

I Prefer to book a Southwest partner car rental co., cuz I get more points.
But sometimes the partner rates are astronomical.
If thats the case, I book EZ, or Payless or whatevers.........

You can always book another, or cancel. I usually have at least 2 rezzies for trips, and cancel
one when time gets closer. Easy peasy.

But I was pleasantly surprised with Advantage, and would use them again.

Sounds like a plan. I always forget that SWA partner stuff. Is Advantage a partner??
Just returned from another Vegas adventure and discovered a major problem with renting from E-Z Car Rental. We usually book with Payless or Alamo but tried E-Z based on recommendations from this board. Our flight was delayed due to a mechanical and when we arrived at the E-Z counter to pick up the car we were told our reservation was CANCELLED. It cancels automatically in their system ONE HOUR after the scheduled pick-up time. They would rent me a car -- at twice the reserved price!!!! What a scam. I'll bet there is a large percentage of people running late at airports. They hook you with a cheap rate and then double it after an hour.

We told them they were crazy and we would never use them again. I had already cancelled my resv. with Payless but used my smart phone to get a rate from carrentals.com that ended up being only $2 a day more than I originally had with E-Z. We visit Vegas 5 or 6 times a year and have never encountered a rental agency that didn't hold your reservation for at least 4 hrs.

Just want you all to be aware when you book with them.

You should have called in to change the time - no charge:

"Updating your pickup and/or return time will not affect your rate, however, it could potentially impact your total price. Rental car calculations are created based on a 24 hour cycle, so if your modifications either extend your rental outside that 24 hour window or inside of it, your total price could change. For an updated estimated total price, please contact us at 800 277-5171."

Sorry for the messup. But I can see their point to some extent. Seems like they should have honored it based on your unforeseen delay. However, if they really are holding you a specific car, which Payless does not do, I can see where they need to free it up. Payless is frequently not able to produce the car you have reserved. They want to sell you an upgrade. As I have said, none of those guys is going to be great.

I agree, they SHOULD have held your res. Longer!
One hour is too short! I didn't know that. Thats a deal breaker if you ask me.

Your flight could be delayed, and IF you're flying from East coast, etc. you could easily be
stuck inflight, etc. Who is going to scramble to call from the plane? Not me! Not most people.

4 hours late seems to be standard. I wouldn't book with EZ again either.




Yes, Payless will hold for 4 hours, except they aren't holding anything. I rarely get the car I have reserved.
They love to sell you an upgrade......or give you a handicapped van at no additional charge except discomfort and poor fuel economy. You can also book more than 1 time with minimal effort now that you know their policy.
