early boarding pass southwest

what do i need to do different if anything i usually don't do this but i thought I would try it this. i normally do they 24 hour in advanve thing and hope for and A boarding pass but i Have no idea what I do with this early boarding thing. Any help would be appreciated.
Early Bird boarding just means Southwest will check you in 36 hrs. before your flight. You don't have to worry about checking yourself in 24 hrs. ahead of time. You can't pull up your boarding pass for printing until the 24 hr. mark though. We've started using it, particularly when coming back from Vegas, to avoid worrying about finding a place to check in.
It has nothing to do with boarding the plane 'earlier'. Other than hopefully getting in the A group without having to hover and click your mouse at the stroke of midnight...er...24 hours before flight time. Usual procedure at the airport.
This is something I have a problem with as a pure "add on" by the airline. Mainly my point is simply this, if ALL ticket holders opt in for "early bird check in" then how can EVERYONE then get an "A" boarding pass?? Its not possible but SWA grabs $10 "non-refundable" from every passenger!! Think about it!

Thanks for letting me vent.

There is no first class on Southwest, and everybody that gets on any commercial plane leaves and arrives at exactly the same time. except for D B Cooper lol. as for me ill save the 10 bucks.
I get the early bird unless my wife goes with me, then I have her hold my seat and do the 24 hr thing. Early bird is pretty handy if your flight leaves Vegas at a time of day when 24 hrs earlier is a pain in the ass to check in. You will never get stuck in a middle seat.
Early check in does not guarantee A boarding pass. Good chance of getting A. I use it for the convenience. If I have a 6am flight I dont have to set an alarm to print my boarding pass, also coming home I don't have to be at a certain place to get my boarding pass printed 24 hrs ahead so I can get a decent boarding pass. As far as I am concerned it is all about convenience.
I like it both for convenience and it increases the probability that I can get a seat on an extended leg room row. Being 6'4", that is the equivalent of first class for me on Southwest. I realize that it isn't a guarantee but I have been successful on both legs of my last two flights to LV. I certainly understand that it isn't necessary for most people.

You don't need to print a boarding pass 24 hours in advance. I have the Southwest app on my iphone (free) and I just set my phone alarm for one minute before the 24 hour notice. When the alarm sounds, I touch the app and check in, all within one minute. I pick up my boarding passes from the Skycap (seldom ever a line of more than 5 people) when I get to the airport. In 20-some trips, I've never received anything other than an A without using early bird.
monkeyshed,

which SW app are you talking about? Can you tell me exact name please?
