Gas Receipt at Dollar

I've rented from dollar every trip for the past 10 years. The receipt thing has been in force for several years, and I've seen the note telling me that in many different ways (most recently a stamp on the rental agreement). I always top off at the gas station near the airport entrance/exit and have never been asked, but I always have the receipt in my pocket. I'm sure it depends on what employee you get when you return the car.
I have had a receipt with me every time until our trip last week. I forgot to get the receipt, but didn't figure it would be a problem, as I've never been asked for it.

Well, I was asked. Said they didn't give me one but that he could see the tank was full (he was inside the car with the key on). He asked if I paid by cc. I said no, cash. Got my receipt and left. Took it out to check it at the airport and I was charged $8.99 for gas. Needless to say, I was pissed. I will make sure I have the receipt from now on.

A better solution to being charged $8.98 is to rent from someone else. I will after reading your post. everyone should email dollar to tell them why they will be renting with someone else.

I am thinking that is a very possible option, too.

Actually I've never been asked for a receipt by Dollar and they were my primary agency for 15 years (4x per) up until 3 trips ago. Than their charges became much higher and Alamos much lower, so its been Alamo since with no problems.
It may be an advantage requesting a receipt to ensure the vehicle was not filled with E85.

True it may be topped off but the mileage the next person gets will be greatly reduced. I do not know what the contracts say in regards to filling flex fuel vehicles nor about putting E85 into a regular vehicle.
