Gotta LUV Southwest

Even though hubby hates the ole cattle call boarding of Southwest. Have say that love the fact you can rebook free. Just rebooked for a second time for a total of $160 cheaper for the two of us on our upcoming trip.

Our future daughter in law recently had to fly out to CA and flew SW. She was the only one in her group that flew SW and the only one who did not have a problem (all the girls were 19-20 years old and new to flying). One had her luggage lost that she had paid baggage fees for, one was rerouted for over 10 hours and the other was just delayed for over 5 hours. Have to note none were due to weather.
wow - thanks for posting. You never know when SWA is going to drop prices. I just re-booked three round trips for August and saved over $100 on each one...
Just rebooked our son & his fiance's honeymoon trip and saved $100.
About a month ago I flew Southwest out of Detroit Metro for the first time, they had finally added a non-stop to LV.Could not have been happier. I will fly SW again. Spirit blows and Delta is just too expensive. Love the free checked bags!!! Bob

I just booked 3 trips with SWA during their fair sale (on points, of course). Average saving was 7,000 points per trip...should finish me off for the year and I still have 97,000 points banked and will add about 10K per month for the rest of the year = another companion pass. Love that they don't expire any more, even if it takes more points to book than the 18K before...fair sales help.
Capt Bill........What do you do to acquire so many points during the year? I'm stumped.
I have the SW CC but can't do nearly that many.

I do have about 50k points. They keep acquiring because I don't spend them on MY flights.
Why? Because If I book SWflights for Me using them?
Those points flights DONT count
towards A-List.
Only Paid for flights do.

So HOW do you do it?

It is nice to see more and more people realizing what I have said for years- Southwest is the best all around airline for the budget minded. Every time someone mentions "cattle call" boarding, I just laugh. Go ahead and pay thru the nose for your assigned seat and checked bags. Oh yeah, don't change or cancel your flight for if you do you will pay thru the nose for those choices. Of course some people seem to have more money than sense and if that is you , then by all means fly another airline. I will stick with Southwest.
CLV, I'm not A list for sure since I don't pay for any flights. I get them on my Business SWA Visa (prior to the Business card, I used my personal card). I'm a florist and all my vendors accept Visa. February was 32,000 points by itself and I've already got 20,000 in flowers for Mothers Day. Lowest month is 10,000. My wife is on her 5th Companion Pass.
Its wonderful to be self-employed. And the best part is my daughter has pretty much taken over the store and has a very capable staff, so I usually only work about 3 hours a day (got to keep tabs on the money!).

So are you saying you actually PAY for flights instead of using points so you can get A List membership? I can see doing this if you're close to reaching that level, but to pay money when you can go for free doesn't seem to make sense to me. Am I missing something? It sort of seems similar to "playing for comps" in the casino.

Since the points never expire he might be saving them for sometime in the future like when he retires.
