Group of 5 going downtown

Rent a limo.
For about $61 you can reserve a limo for 5(+ tip) & you can be picked up at the airport & not have to wait & wait in line for a taxi.

The cost I mentioned is for the strip, I do not know what it would cost to go downtown.
Uber is normally cheaper than a taxi. Also uber XL can hold up to 6 people so you would only need one. This was in reply to chilcoot. I guess I hit reply instead of quote.

Okay, I've never taken Uber.

But I just don't see how Uber could be meaningfully less expensive than the $60 it'd cost five people to take two taxis (or, apparently one limo) to downtown. $60/5 = $12 per person.

Plus, the taxis are right there at the airport, lined up and ready to go.

I'm sure Uber has its place. I just don't see it for this particular need.

Being it's a walk-up limo, the time does not start until you enter the vehicle (as opposed to a reserved limo where the time starts when the plane lands) so if there are other things you want to do on your way downtown (stop at the Las Vegas Sign or go to a convenience store) you do have the whole hour if you want to use it. A stretch Limo holds up to 6 people.

this clearly sounds like the best idea. you have up to an hour and will be able to stop at the drug store and load up on necessities or any other stops you may need to make. of course if uber is available for much less that would work, but I think someone in the party would have to already have the uber app on their cell phone.

Chilcoot you are right it might not work in this case, but was just throwing out another option that might be possible. No one will know how much uber will cost compared to a taxi in vegas till they come on line and post their rates. Just comparing to other cities uber is operating in. They are normally 30 - 50% cheaper than a taxi. I use uber around my area, but I am not sure how uber will fare in Vegas since taxis are literally everywhere. It will probably be better for the surrounding areas instead of the strip.

Not meaning to turn this into a debate, but in this case, even if UBER was an option, I agree with Chil on this one. These are five people with luggage who want to pretty much stick together, at least until they get to the hotel and settled in. I also haven't used UBER, but have a little insight as my niece drives UBER (or FLYTE, or maybe both?) in Los Angeles area. She has a lot of repeat customers going TO the airport, but not sure about pickup up at the airport. I'm just imagining that it would be a little more cumbersome for this group, when, as state, the taxis are lined up and ready, and the limo option is there for very little more, and would be fun if one limo can handle five people with luggage.

When UBER returns to Vegas, I hope somebody will test it out, a ride from airport to hotel, let us in on how it goes. Or maybe somebody did it before they shut it down. Where was the pickup point? Was it more or less convenient (and costly) than taxi or shuttle?
