Help with Dollar and Alamo codes

Dollar just quoted $765.00 all in for 12 days at Christmas 2013. In 2012 it was below $400.00

I booked a mid-size for April 9-16 from Dollar for a grand total of $154.51. This was Monday at 11:50 PM eastern time. Since prices fluctuate greatly, and right now if I try to book, it's almost $100 higher, you might try next Monday at about this time, if possible. Don't know if you could get a similar price for your rental in March, but maybe.

In past years I rented exclusively from Dollar - they always had great rates and I love Dollar Express. However, the last three or four trips to Vegas their prices have been much higher than usual, making it worth the 10-20 minute wait at the counter for a Payless rental. In December I jumped on a great Advantage special for next week's trip; less than half as much as the cheapest competitor. Hopefully my "guaranteed" rate will still be there when I pick up the car. I've started booking as early as possible, then I keep checking for lower rates. Good luck!

i had a reservation with payless on my last trip, great price about $45 less than Dollar. But when I got there on Sunday afternoon there were about 40 - 50 people in line. Not worth it to me, walked over to the empty Alamo counter and payed the extra to not stand in line for two hours.

Just scored a Mustang convertible "or similar" at Thrifty for $136.14 Grand total.

That's for 5 days, Feb 17-21. On the plus side, if they don't have a Mustang convertible available when we arrive I have always managed to get a Chysler 300M as the "Similar".

we have always used Alamo, but y'all are right- their prices suck now. I can get Payless or Advantage for the same rate for May 22-31 thru Carrentals.com ... Any suggestions either way??

I am checking every day for lower rates on Alamo or Dollar. Alamo is just too high to book anything and I started a few weeks ago with Dollar for a compact for one week April 20th - 27th. My first price was $188.85 and now after 4 changes I am down to $161.26 for the compact. Hopefully over the next couple of months it will get lower yet.
