Hertz to buy Dollar/Thrifty

Hertz is in the process of buying Dollar/Thrifty. Hertz is trying to sell Advantage to meet anticipated regulator concerns.

Let's hope this will not impact our great Dollar deals in Las Vegas!!

I was really surprised to see the article about Hertz and Avis both wanting to buy Dollar. I thought that Hertz had acquired Dollar over a year ago. Dollar has made many Hertz like changes to its operation. That only confirmed my mistaken understanding.

I think the Dollar great deals are a thing of the past. For my April trip I ended up with Alamo. Checked Dollar daily for 3 straight months and never saw a rate even close to Alamos. For my July trip, Budget appears to be the best bet and I've been checking Dollar every other day (Dollar is currently a $100 more).

I agree with you Capt Bill....I have been checking Dollar...and I am in the travel industry....and they are way out of line....I must have used them at least 20 times in the last 3 years at a very good rate....but seems like those are GONE...

But I will keep looking...
