High speed rail proposal from Los Angeles to Las Vegas

The promise is included within the link below.  The question that I must ask is, when was the last time that any United States high speed rail travel time hit within 200% of it's promised travel time?  Also, when was the last time that a high speed rail line within the US achieved a construction cost within 300% of its promised cost.

The answer is never, and never.  These things sound wonderful, they sound fast and sound cheap, yet every time they turn out to be awkward, slow and expensive.  Frankly, people pass them up to fly, and money is wasted..........again and again and again.

Since the US has no high speed rail at all, and has never had any, your questions are meaningless.

Your statements in your second paragraph are ridiculous. High speed rail has worked well in other countries, particularly France, Spain, and Japan. It hasn't gone over well in the US because people here are too much in love with their cars. It's a very efficient and quick method of transportation.

If and when a high-speed rail link is built between L.A. and Vegas, it'll cut the travel time from driving by more than half, and it'll be almost as quick as an airline flight. The cost will probably be roughly equal to a Southwest flight.

We do have to watch out for those Jewish space lasers, though.
