I'm glad I re-booked my Dollar rent a car last week!

Doing the March Madness thing next week in Vegas and the 1 thing that I have learned was to always check back to see if my (Dollar rent a car ) rates have gone down. I originally booked a compact about 2 months ago for around 230 plus fees and taxes. I noticed about 2 week ago that the compact was dropping so I canceled and rebooked at 196...then 178...then 142. Last week, March 8th, I found a mid size for 122.61 (OMG). Cancelled and booked and committed to seeing if I could beat that (207.38 inclusive).

4 days ago I noticed that the fares were going back up. Today a compact is 228 plus fees and taxes and mid size is 246 plus!! Timing is everything!!

Yes, Champ, definitely in regards to car rentals, it literally pays to keep rechecking rates to see if things might have changed for the better (especially if it doesn't cost anything to cancel and re-book)!

Why are you limiting yourself to Dollar?

In the past 4 years (11 trips) Dollar has consistently been the best. And with Dollar express, I have gone straight to my car on 9 of the last 11 trips (one trip I needed to rent a GPS and on another I had to exchange some free day coupons so I had to go see the boothling). Walking downstairs, looking at the screen, and getting in my car (for a week), for under $230.00...Priceless!

I am a member of Dollar Express as well as all the other major rental car companies clubs. I go to Vegas 3 or 4 times a year and always rent a car. I have yet to find Dollar the best deal for any trip to Vegas and I check several different places several times a week leading up to a trip. They are best so far for a September trip to Reno/Lake Tahoe but I will be checking a lot before then. If you are happy with Dollar's customer service and get a price you can live with I understand but I am reasonably sure you could have found a better deal on most of those 11 trips. We are leaving Tuesday for two weeks of March Madness. I hope you enjoy your trip. I agree that the rate you got for your week with Dollar this trip is a great rate for Vegas.
