KC to Albuerque

Driving to Vegas and getting the 6 Harrah's properties for their Great Race promotion.

1st--Horseshoe Hammond before our trip

2nd--St Louis and spending the night

3rd--KC on the fly

This is where my question comes in. Looks like the quickest shortest way is a lot of 2 lane (54).
I think I should do the extra 100 miles and 1/2 hour of driving and go 4 lane via Oklahoma City. However, I thought I should get some opinions as I have never done either route.

4th--Ak-Chin Phoenix (I figure we will need to do 2 hotels between St Louis and Ak-Chin.)

5th--Laughlin on the way to Vegas

6th--Whichever Vegas Harrah's property we decide to get Diamond show tickets from.
Sorry, can't help you from KC to Alb.

If you're interested in the scenic route from Alb, to Ak-Chin, drive through the White Mountains and Mogollian Rim (sp) in AZ. This will add about 20 - 30 minutes to your trip. You basically take I 40 West to Holbrook, go south to Heber/Overgard then Highway 260 to Payson. From Payson, take the 87 south to Phoenix. Don't go through Fountain Hills. Stay on the 87 to Loop 202. Then Loop 202 South to 10 East. Take the 10 East to the exit to Ak-Chin, Highway 347. Go west through the desert. 17 miles later, you will be at Ak-Chin.

It is quicker to go on Hwy 54, but I would go through OKC because you don't want to be stuck on 54 if you have car problems.

Dude, if you want scenery, you don't drive from Albuquerque to Holbrook. You go Albu ---> Socorro ---> Plains of San Agustin ---> Pie Town ---> Eagar ---> Show Low.

I live 2 hours south of KC & used to live near Wichita and drove both 54 and I-35 frequently. I would definitely not take 54. I guarantee (while a longer distance) I-35 through OKC would be quicker than 54. Lots of little towns on 54 that will slow you down.
I live in Albuquerque. I suggest you go 40 all the way. You canstop in flagstaff and go to the grand canyon. There's some pretty scenery as well as the ugly. Roads are good
I wouldn't go the Socorro route. Sorry UGLY. Mountain roads around the Show Low route also.
You can go south I. Flagstaff to phoenix
