Limo rental from airport - Suggestions

Due to numerous overruns (pick-ups going over one hour due to luggage delays, etc.) my Limo company has now started charging a 1.5 hour fee for credit card reservations off the airport. Of course, if the pick-up is completed within an hour or less, the price adjusts to just the hour.

Some suggestions for those using a limo service:

The time of your service starts when the aircraft lands. It usually takes 15 to 25 minutes to get to the gate, off the plane and to the luggage area. When booking a reservation, ask that the driver meet you 20 minutes (or more) after the flight arrival. This will save you paying for dead time.

Keep in mind that when you book a limo or sedan you have it for an hour, so if you want to drive down the strip or stop at a convenience store or liquor store, ask the driver. You don't have to use the full hour, as the driver will be more than happy to take you directly to your hotel by the shortest route, but you are paying for the full hour.

There are numerous liquor stores around the airport (as well as one in the airport by luggage carousel #1), but I would suggest that you ask the driver to stop by CVS. It is right off the airport (across from Hard Rock) and you will be able to pick up not only alcohol, but any toiletries and food you might need for your trip. You can also stock up on bottled water for a lot less than they charge for that bottle left in the room. Here you are paying CVS prices which in general are much cheaper that liquor stores.

If you want even more time, you can skip booking in advance, as numerous companies are at the airport with limos on the curb. If you take this route, your hour will not start until you get into the vehicle, so you will have much more of your hour. At terminal 1, you just go out the doors opposite the cab line (doors 7 and up) and there are 4 different companies with cars on the curb. At terminal three, go out the doors and one isle past the cab line and you will see the limos lined up.

Taking a limo or sedan from the airport is more expensive than renting one around town or back to the airport, as there is a $6 airport fee added to the price. Therefore a ride back to the airport or around town would be $6 cheaper.

Hope these hints help.

Great tips! One of these days -- maybe my April trip -- I will do this, especially as my flight gets in after midnight.
I have used Larry and his company for Limo service as well as some friends and their co-workers etc.
A class act, would highly recommend contacting him for service. He even " on his day off " came in and
picked up me and a buddy, just as a way of being a fellow LVA'er and appreciated the connection.

We had Larry pick up our son and daughter in law for their honeymoon this past September. They couldn't stop raving about their "wonderful limo driver"!

Very nice, Larry! Thanks for the tips! But would going to a supermarket be even better than CVS? If so, is there any one near enough to the airport and to the Strip hotels?

There is a Vons on Maryland Parkway and Tropicana (not too much of a detour when going to the Strip hotels from the airport). CVS has most everything you could need unless you are stocking up for a Timeshare that has a full kitchen. Then Vons would be the way to go. Vons (like CVS) also has alcohol at below liquor store prices.

Larry, what's the name of your company. We are planning a may trip and are looking into presidential.
My company is Bell Trans of which Presidential is a subsidiary. Bell Trans is also Whittlesea Taxi and Henderson Taxi. Presidential is an excellent choice.

Larry, what would you recommend for someone going from The Cromwell to the airport for a 6am Southwest flight to Burbank. My sister needed that early flight so she could be at work by 9am, she was thinking taxi, but it seems the shuttle services are as reliable.
Taxi is your best bet. Shuttle service from the airport to a property is fine, but return service is sometimes spotty. Also, you don't know how many pick-up stops are after yours before you get to the airport. Since it's a very short distance from the Cromwell to the airport, I would go with the taxi.
