Due to numerous overruns (pick-ups going over one hour due to luggage delays, etc.) my Limo company has now started charging a 1.5 hour fee for credit card reservations off the airport. Of course, if the pick-up is completed within an hour or less, the price adjusts to just the hour.
Some suggestions for those using a limo service:
The time of your service starts when the aircraft lands. It usually takes 15 to 25 minutes to get to the gate, off the plane and to the luggage area. When booking a reservation, ask that the driver meet you 20 minutes (or more) after the flight arrival. This will save you paying for dead time.
Keep in mind that when you book a limo or sedan you have it for an hour, so if you want to drive down the strip or stop at a convenience store or liquor store, ask the driver. You don't have to use the full hour, as the driver will be more than happy to take you directly to your hotel by the shortest route, but you are paying for the full hour.
There are numerous liquor stores around the airport (as well as one in the airport by luggage carousel #1), but I would suggest that you ask the driver to stop by CVS. It is right off the airport (across from Hard Rock) and you will be able to pick up not only alcohol, but any toiletries and food you might need for your trip. You can also stock up on bottled water for a lot less than they charge for that bottle left in the room. Here you are paying CVS prices which in general are much cheaper that liquor stores.
If you want even more time, you can skip booking in advance, as numerous companies are at the airport with limos on the curb. If you take this route, your hour will not start until you get into the vehicle, so you will have much more of your hour. At terminal 1, you just go out the doors opposite the cab line (doors 7 and up) and there are 4 different companies with cars on the curb. At terminal three, go out the doors and one isle past the cab line and you will see the limos lined up.
Taking a limo or sedan from the airport is more expensive than renting one around town or back to the airport, as there is a $6 airport fee added to the price. Therefore a ride back to the airport or around town would be $6 cheaper.
Hope these hints help.
