Long hauling

Is it Long Hauling if Taxi takes the Highway to Downtown from Paris????
To downtown? I don't think so, no.

Yes, the tires will go around a few more times, but in most circumstances you'll pay less wait time. You might pay $2 more than taking the strip the whole way, but you'll likely get there faster. I couldn't criticize a driver who took that route.
I think, for cost reasons, it would be wiser to the back route (take Koval -Paradise-Main Street ). Of course, if you went down the strip, it would be the most expensive. I think you did get long hauled, but I suspect the additional cost would not be too drastic.
Long hauling mainly refers to taking the tunnel from the airport to a strip property where you are actually going South from the airport to reach a destination that is North of the airport. However, just leaving Paris using Las Vegas Blvd. will cost you time. That light is forever and there is usually a back up of cars so you may wait there for 2 lights. The best way to depart Paris is to go out the back way to Audrey to Harmon and then you can use Koval to go north/south.

Of course if you're going close - Bellagio, Caesars, City Center, etc. then you would you the Las Vegas exit of Paris.

It sounds to me like you DID get taken the long way to DT, jazzy.

My husband was recently long-hauled from Airport to Wynn. I thought he KNEW better, but guess
I didn't teach him well enough. lol

Larry- I hear ya about the stoplights in front of Paris, onto LV Blvd. But,
I don't think I've ever seen a Taxi, pick up a Paris fare and circle-back around & go out the Back
way of Paris.
They probably should, but doubt they make a habit of it.
Plus, there's speed bumps going that way........you know how they Don't like to go slow.........lol

Taking a taxi from airport to Flamingo tomorrow. I assume that means no tunnel. What route should I request to make sure?
Paradise to Flamingo, West on Flamingo to Audrey, right and then a quick left right into Flamingo.

Hey Group,

I think that I may have just come up with a good idea that could short circuit the LV Taxicab Drivers trying to Long Haul you!

How about while you're still at home going to one of the Mapping websites (like Mapquest, Mapblast, or Bing Maps) and asking for the most direct directions from the LV airport to whatever your destination is and then handing that to the Taxi Driver and then telling him/her to use it!

Thats not a bad idea Rec...........but I rarely had one that spoke good english, let alone read a map.
Maybe for your OWN reference? lol
I never get into the subject of long-hauling at the airport with the driver.
I tip those that don't
I don't tip those that do.
Works out about the same either way.
