Hi all,

During a recent trip to Las Vegas, I gathered my own data when it comes to long hauling. I'd hoped to post this as a more complete report. Since my subscription ends today, this won't be possible. So, here's my raw data; please draw your own conclusions ....

McCarran to south Strip (LVB & Tropicana area)
Via Tunnel to 215 to 15 to Tropicana exit to LVB: 6.1 miles in 9 minutes
Via McCarran exit up Swenson to Tropicana to LVB: 3.2 miles in 9 minutes
Tunnel adds 2.9 miles w/ no time saving

McCarran to Flamingo & Valley View area (Rio, Gold Coast, Palms)
Via Tunnel to 215 to 15 to Flamingo exit to Valley View: 7.4 miles in 9 minutes
Via McCarran exit up Swenson to Paradise crossover to Flamingo to Valley View: 4.6 miles in 19 mins.
Via McCarran exit up Swenson to Tropicana to Dean Martin to Hotel Rio Dr to Flamingo to Valley View:
4.4 miles in 13 minutes
Tunnel adds 2.8 miles on Flamingo route w/ 10 minute time saving
Tunnel adds 3 miles to Dean Martin route w/ 6 minute time saving

McCarran to north Strip (LVB & Spring Mountain Road area)
Via Tunnel to 215 to 15 to Spring Mountain exit to LVB: 8.2 miles in 10 minutes
Via McCarran exit up Swenson to Paradise crossover to Sands to LVB: 3.4 miles in 10 minutes
Tunnel adds 4.8 miles w/ no time saving

McCarran to Downtown (Fremont & Casino Center area)
Via Tunnel to 215 to 14 to 95 to Casino Center exit: 12.4 miles in 16 minutes
Via McCarran exit up Swenson to Paradise crossover to Main to Bridger to Casino Center: 6.8 miles in
23 minutes
Tunnel adds 5.6 miles w/ 7 minute time saving.

Now it's up to any individual to decide if the higher fare brought on by the extra miles of the tunnel route is worth any time savings.
