MGM to charge for parking on the strip

I knew this day would eventually come

Only for shows, and they better be damn good shows. Won't go these otherwise.
Since Downtown began to charge for parking, I have reduced my visits there. I really don't need to go to any MGM properties that badly. If this trend spreads, I really don't need to go to strip either. If it spreads further, I can go other places rather than Vegas to gamble.

Totally agree. These casino companies keep making decisions that push customers away.

Yes, but we keep coming. Vegas visitation has never been higher.

The slim prospect of facing a few $10 parking fees during a Vegas trip will have no effect on my excitement to visit. And Vegas rooms are still crazy cheap relative to comparable rooms elsewhere, even with resort fees factored in.
The fact that they decided to charge for parking (all the time, not only for shows) and the fact that they are building a new parking garage at Excalibur leads me to believe that at all the hearings for their new arena, they just outright lied when they testified over and over again that there was ample parking for events already available at the adjoining properties.

It is the wait to pay to get out of a garage that also concerns me.

I can't imagine waiting on line to get to the cashier to pay the parking fee especially after an event. Hopefully they will at least charge you going in and not out. They will try to get people in quicker than getting them out.

Either way, they'll have live cashiers or credit card machines or both. Both will slow things up.
If all the hotels continue to follow this lead I will not be renting anymore cars when I get to Vegas. It just seems like they nickel and dime everybody to death. I hate the resort fees. I cant get by this but I don't have to rent a car. It will hurt the hotels more than they think. I will only play at the casinos that are around me. I wonder what else that they come up with. I know, I'm on vacation but I'm very conservative in my spending.
The next charge will be for using the elevators to get to your room. You're paying for the room, but the Casinos have to maintain those elevators and it's a business expense. Of course, you can always take the emergency steps to your 30th floor room and save the "Elevator Convenience Fee"
