Miserable New Service from MSP

Customer-hostile Spirit Airlines will begin angering Minnesotans nonstop on May 31. Just one late flight, with a red-eye return.
I take it that your viewpoint of Spirit Airline is somewhat less that favorable. I have no personal experience flying this airline and use MSP regularly when I fly to Vegas and other destinations. Could you expound on your experiences with Spirit, which lead you to such a negative attitude towards them? Anyone else have experience with this airline, positive or negative?

Glasses can affect your vision; especially when they have been emptied several times....

Spring Break 2000 !!!
Spirit may become the first airline with pay toilets on the plane.
Only flown Spirit once and found theleg room to be terrible.

Want an advance seat assignment? Aisle or window is $12, middle is $7.

Want to check-in for the flight yourself at the airport using a kiosk? $2

Want an agent to print your boarding pass? $5

Want a soda on the plane? $3

Not saying it's not legal. Just saying it's customer-hostile.
Just posted on the free side that Spirit gets 178 seats
in the same size Jet that other carriers have 160 seats.
So legroom is obviously less.
Aren't there fares a lot less?
We flew Spirit once. We had just gotten back from Vegas 5 or so years ago in Sept. and I had another week of vacation that I had to use by mid Oct. so I asked my spouse if another 5 days in Vegas sounded good. Of course the reply was yes. Well, the prices on Southwest out of Columbus on such short notice were so high we couldn't justify paying that much, but I wasn't going to give up that easy, so we booked with Spirit out of Detroit. We drove to Detroit paid I think about $70 to leave the car parked at a lot near the airport, and hopped on our flight to Vegas. The flights were fine because we knew what to expect after reading about Spirit on there website. Back then they weren't charging for checked bags so there were some awful big bags being crammed into the overhead bins. That was a little disappointing because we played by the rules and packed the minimal amount in order to get everything in truly carry-on sized bags, but many other travelers were taking up more than their share of space with suit cases.
