Monorail article

6/17 LVRJ had a article about a retired professor who did a monorail study just for the heck of it.

He went into the project thinking the monorail project was a great idea. After much work at well thought out studies he came to a very negative conclusion. Great idea but........... terrible product.

BTW he said many think (as has been posted on this site) that connection to the airport would make the project viable. He says that after considering the time cost plus having to carry your bags for the long walks cabs would prove to be a better choice for most everyone.
I think the monorail died the moment they decided to run the track behind the hotels on the east side of the strip. That decision rendered it useless to more than half the strip's visitors, and kept the monorail out of sight and out of mind. It really, really needed to run along the strip somehow to succeed, something everyone should have realized, but apparently didn't.

But that was the Go-Go Vegas of the 90s, where too many people thought all construction would be successful construction.

I hope they people who sited this monorail no longer have jobs that require much thought.
