MUST READ!!!!!!!!!! SUPER CHEAP CAR RENTAL

I see some discussion of having a "back up plan". I don't see how this is possible. You are prepaying if you make this reservation. If you decide at the counter for some reason you don't like the deal, you aren't getting your payment refunded. How is a back up plan going to save you money?
There has been no charge to my credit card....I reserved on 1/23/14...When I called they said no charges will be on account until the rental company assigns you a conformation number. The numbers that TR assigned were not recognized by Thrifty when I tried to look them up.... TR representative told me there are no charges until about 5 days prior to pick-up....There are a few other members with un and coming rentals going to report back on experiences they had....Surely TR is big enough to realized if this is a scam it would cause a lot of people to be upset and lose customers in the process........there has been a few members follow-up and check and seem to tink it will fly.....
I booked this TR deal last week Friday night and the charge was pending on Sat. and has since been charged to my credit card for a May rental in the amount of 108.00 through dollar. I too hope all is on the up and up. Will wait to hear back from those who have booked for earlier dates.
Came back yesterday from vegas trip, used this great rental car rate from thrifty after reading about it here. Had trouble when I booked it with the first try with Dollar not going thru but charges showing pending on my credit card for about 3 days. That pending charge went away and we had no problems at thrifty with our reservation and the pre paid price of $108 for 5 days for a Nissan Maxima.

I stand corrected. I just called Visa and had 2 charges $108.24 each for each of the rental...I talked to the same girl the day I rented the cars at TR and she told me that it would not be charged until 5 days prior to rental from Thrifty...I even questioned her about TR only doing business with Dollar in Las Vegas and she danced me around with some type of explanation...After the two conversations she had me confused and I really don't think she knew what was going on...The second call she even put me on hold until she ask a supervisor about the deal and came back and said no problems...Sorry I was just relaying what I was told from TR......As you said just hope all is ok.....
OK here is the deal. I called Thrifty reservations and gave them my conformation numbers on both rentals. Within three minutes they came back and sad yes both rentals are confirmed and the amount due is zero...I gave them my Blue Chip number and she marked them as going straight to the lot to pick them up....Thrifty conformation numbers that they wanted started with the letter F and it was on TR email they sent to me the day I rented them...So 5 days prior is not correct I think if the rental charge went through on your card they can verify the deal....ONE HELL OF A DEAL
Sounds great, waiting for my conf# and will call and give them my blue chip #. Nice research.
I just called dollar and they had my rental confirmed as well. Because of the type of reservation it is (third party) apparently, it does not come up when you search for it on the Dollar website. But she did confirm in person that it was in there. Yeah!
It looks like the good offers are gone. Went to check out the prices for the time period we are scheduled for and the 108.24 price has jumped to 400-600 dollars for the same time period (May 14-20).
