New Airport Taxi Fee by Nellis Cabs

We left Vegas on 5/11. We took the taxi from Palazzo to the airport via Paradise. The driver from Nellis Cab wanted to go via the freeway but we said no. I guess to make up for it, he wanted to charge us a $4 airport drop off fee on top of the regular cab fare. I called him a cheat and just paid the regular fare, no $5 tip for him.

We visit Vegas four times a year and normally catch a cab going to and from the hotel. Long hauling, lies, and now making up new charges by cab drivers have gotten way out of hand. You would think with the long hauling story in the news a few weeks ago, drivers would be cautious. When is the TA really going to get serious with the cab companies?
Have you contacted the Taxicab Authority about this incident? Maybe they don't know that this kind of thing is going on.

There is an airport fee when departing from McCarran that is added to all fares, however there is no fee to drop off at the airport. He should definitely be reported.

Larry (limo driver) from Las Vegas
Agreed, we owe it to one another to report this driver, if he indeed did what is claimed.

There's a system here, let's put it to work.

Yes, I just filed a report with the TA. If I receive a response, I will post it.
I am going to Vegas in a few weeks. I will probably have the Taxicab Authority phone number in my cell phone to call in real-time to report if something like this happens. I dare any taxicab driver to do this to me ;-)
B. Webb from the TA responded to my complaint. She replied that the TA will look into it and also forwarded my complaint to Nellis Cab.

If there is any further response from the TA or Nellis, I will post it.
I'm now thinking that if Nellis keeps records, then they might be able to find out which exact Taxi Driver it was if you tell them when you were picked up and from where and to where you were going.

That's assuming that the driver contacted the Cab Company to let them know where he was driving to.

I also wonder if the Taxicab Authority can get access to Nellis' records of that day. That could help things as well.

Were you trying to pay by credit card? cabs in Vegas charge an outrageous fee for that, in the neighborhood of $4.
No, we always pay with cash.

I sometimes feel being asian and seniors, cab drivers think they can take advantage of us. We have been coming to vegas for over 40 years and the long hauling is a way of life with cabbies now.
