Off-brand car rentals.

There seem to be a bunch of these in Vegas. I wonder if it's worth the hassle of using any of them. What are the car-rental tricks? I've found Priceline to be pretty good at getting a decent rate, but it seems you could save a lot if you ditched all those airport car-rental fees.
deadeye- Glad to see you found the Transportation catergory. lol

Maybe be alittle more specific in which car rental co.'s you consider off brand?

There are many Car rental co's covered in this catergory.....so thats a start......good luck.

You save about $30 a week by renting off-site. If you lose an hour of vacation to do so, is it worth it? If the answer is yes, then you might consider attending a time share presentation.
The number one recommendation is to just keep checking rates over and over and over. Typically, rates will drop as you get closer to your trip. When they drop, just re-book and then keep checking. I have typically booked for around $160 per week, inclusive of taxes, and usually get it down to a bit under $100. Just be diligent and jump on it when you see the rates drop. As for off-airport rentals; often the rate for the car is higher which somewhat offsets the tax savings.

Make sure you search for those coupon codes, especially with Alamo. They can really help when you rent for 5 days and more with a Saturday night stay. The Fox rental place that's off site is really a pain to use, as are their employees.
I think Bill Ryan answered my question pretty well. Thanks a lot.
I have heard favorable reviews about Fox car rental. They are south of the airport,
