Payless

Down to the wire 4 weeks out and no rental car yet. I don't want to pay $300. for a midsize/compact
either. I can get one at payless for about $150.00 but what our the hassles I am walking into.
I am used to doing the Kiosk at Alamo.

You will definitely get the insurance up-sell pressure at payless, and depending on what day/time you arrive, lines might be long. But for $150 difference, I could handle the wait. Just keep saying no to insurance and don't let them put the "mandatory" road hazard fee on your bill. It never hurts to keep checking other companies also - rates fluctuate almost daily. I just booked a week in October with Firefly for $115 total, but I'll keep my higher priced Dollar reservation just in case.....

Her's a quick tip: Go to carrentals.com and punch in your dates. Opt into the notifications and they'll shoot you an email every time prices drop. I always keep checking, and book directly with the rental companies. Don't be afraid to book multiple cars, and rebook at will. I'm already down to $115 total price for a week in mid-October....
