Prescriptions taken through Security

I'm a person who has 9 different prescription bottles. I have always taken all bottles with me because of what I read of security issues at airport. But wife talked with a TSA supervisor that showed up were she works and asked about it. He told her I could put pills in my 7 day pill holder and if they ask about them, just tell them I'm diabetic and they will let me go through security

My worry is what if they stop me and say no. That means I go on trip without my pills or go home and get them. Any one have experience or knowledge of this. I feel to play safe and take bottles, but then again it would be great just to take my 7 day pill box.
Good Lord! Those guys aren't Narcs.
I also get worried because of reading about folks who get yanked for no prescription bottles. Then I realized most of them were stars and had pain killers. I finally just stopped worrying and take just what I need plus 2 extra days. I have never had a problem.

The TSA web site says if you have a prescription bottle it must match your name. You do need documentation if you bring liquids like insulin. It also says you might need medical proof that you are a diabetic.

If you ever do have a problem , TSA agents don't always follow protocol. My friend forgot her prescriptions and was able to get an emergency supply from her pharmacy.

Best of luck
I always take my pills in my weekly pill box (I don't take the prescription bottles). I carry my insulin in a freezer pack and all TSA has ever requested is that I unzip the freezer pack and pull it out half-way when it goes through the xray machine. I've flown dozens of times and have never been asked for a prescription. Do always carry your meds in your carry-on though - you never know when your luggage will go missing for awhile.

I've taken my meds through TSA security in a 7-day box for years...never a word from security...never a problem. DO KEEP THEM IN YOUR CARRY-ON, not in your luggage. Luggage can get lost or delayed. Now THAT has happened to me, lol.

Thanks for all the advice. We usually just have carry on luggage when going to Las Vegas. I will give it a shot for up coming trip in October. It will be nice not to carry all those bottles. If I get pills taken away, can I borrow anyones else's pills to get through the week? DJH
I always bring a weekly Vit. container too. So much Easier.

(If you travel to other countries, I would take RX containers thru Customs, but never had a prob with TSA.)

If you ever run short on your medicine.......... hit a local Vegas Pharmacy & get a refill for a few days, or however long you need.

That happened to me once.
Went to CVS, (where my RX was established at home) and they were able to look up the RX for me, and sold me ONE pill. lol

I carry all of my pills in my carry-on bag. They are in old prescription bottles which I've re-labeled so that I carry only what I will need for my trip. TSA has never looked in my carry-on bag -- it goes through security with no problem.
I have to take a ton of meds with me because I am post transplant (kidney). No one at TSA ever bothered me, because they were busy wiping my hands for gunpowder residue (!???). LOL
I did type a list of the meds and their prescription numbers and I take that in my wallet, just in case.
