Question -Costco car rental

Can I book a car through Costco Travel using my traveling companions Costco membership number. I would be the only driver? Also, how would I be able to use the kiosk as I am a member of Alamo?

Thanks for any input -our trip is for one week April 20th start.

I ususally do my research on Costco Travel using the Low Price Finder. It automaticlly finds the best coupon and rate for you. You do not have to enter a membership number to use this tool.

I make note of the ID and coupon code of the offer I like (if any - found under Terms and conditions (click on) for that particular rental).

Then I go to Alamo's web site and enter the codes and information Costco gave me. 99 times out of 100 it will give me the same rate.

There are a few reasons for doing this.

- Costco's site does not allow you to make changes or cancel the rental online - you must call. Alamo's does let you modify online if a lower rate shows up.

- Costco's web site does not allow you to check in online. However, you can check in at the airport kioske with a Costco rental if you know your ALAMO confirmation number (there are two confirmation numbers - Costco's and Alamo's).

- As you said, Costco's site requires your membership number. Alamo's site does not. When using a Costco code, I have never been asked for my Costco card, even though I am a member.

Check the Costco Low price Finder every single day - and again in the evening. Also check Dollar's City Rate for comparison.

The Costco code lets you add a second driver for free. Read the terms and conditions about this - there may be restrictions.

Some of this may have changed since Alamo changed their web site. Costco's information may have changed too.

Finally - I VERY HIGHLY recommend a Costco membership if there is a store near you.

I do exactly what tonycc does, though more frequently with Bugdet. Use costcotravel.com to find the deal's codes, then use those codes at the rental company's own site.

If you book the reservation like that in your name through Alamo.com, you'll can use the kiosk.

I've never been asked to show my Costco card on a Costco rental. If I was the reservation holder but wasn't a member but someone in my party was and had their card, I'm certain the rental company wouldn't object.
OK Thanks for the information. Will keep checking & try to get a reasonable one week rate for the latter part of April.
