re. dollar non airport rental

Just wondering if anyone has had any/good/bad experience renting from Dollar (Swenson St. location) and returning to Airport. Was wondering if its as fast and easy with Dollar Express (as long as getting to location is no big deal) and also wondering if they have "lots of vehicles" at that location. Any insightful experience would be appreciated. Thanks, W.Davis

Not much insight yet - trying this for the first time next month. It's almost $100 cheaper than anything else. I do remember renting at the Swenson location before the McCarran rental center was built. Back then the Dollar shuttle took you directly to your car if you were Dollar Express....

As of now, later in the year I will be using the Dollar Swenson St. location but not until the morning after I arrive because it will not be open when I arrive. I am planning to use Super Shuttle to get to Orleans the evening I arrive based upon the ease of use the only other time I have used them earlier this year. My hope is to switch to a rental from the Budget location across the street from Orrleans if the price is comparable but when I've checked into this over the last month or so the Budget site has always said that the location is sold out of cars for the dates requested, and this is still months away. I don't know if they are truly sold out already or perhaps they anticipate closing that location. I gues I could plug in some even later dates to see what the result would be.
As it stands now my plan is to take a city bus to the stop on Tropicana closest to Swenson St. and hoof it the rest of the way to the Dollar location. If I have to stick with the Dollar Swenson St. location rental I'm hoping to just take the bus to near the strip and have a Dollar shuttle pick me up from Hooters and take me to the Dollar location. On the Dollar Swenson St. location website it states they will pick up customers from hotels within 3 miles of the location( I'm hoping Hooters is within 3 miles) I tried to look into this service earlier in the year before I switched to the Budget Tropicana location but I had no luck getting anyone to answer to phone at the Dollar Swenson St. location.

I remember doing those shuttles before , but I don't think I had used Dollar way back then. Just know McCarren prices (at the moment) are ridiculous for July. W.Davis

I have used Dollar on Swenson several times. Their inventory is very limited so don't expect to walk up without a reservation and have many options. That being said, you can save a ton by using that location over the airport location. I have never seen anyone at the Swenson location and hence you should not to wait in line.

The only thing I might recommend is that you pick up from Swenson and drop off at the airport. You will pay a few extra bucks to drop off at the airport, but it is cheaper and more convenient than cabbing to the airport from the Swenson location.

My reservation is to pick-up at Swenson and drop-off at the airport just like my prior Tropicana Blvd. reservation. I don't mind spending a little extra time and effort to pick-up offsite but I think I will always drop-off at the airport.

Thanks for the info. That's pretty much what I was thinking of doing. I'd make my reservation beforehand as usual, and drop off at the airport . I kinda figured cars might be limited there but wasn't sure ....as well as if there'd be much of a wait....as I'm used to doing dollar express. W.Davis
