Rental Car Taxes Are Crazy

I am sure visitors will be paying that tax long after the building is paid for

In Vegas? Where everything seems to have a twenty year life cycle? It wouldn't surprise me if there are already plans for the new RAC.
The days of cheap car rentals in Vegas seem to be over. I'm going to be there for a long time (July 14-27), and I'm around $350 or $400, which seems ridiculous. I have always rented a car for my entire stay. I'm thinking about maybe going daily from the hotel or something. Any suggestions?
If you think the car rental fares are bad in Vegas, just check the prices in Reno. Criminal, at best.

I don't consider $175 per week for a rental car ridiculous.

To each his own.

Do you always have a negative opinion on everything? I consider $175 for a week VERY high. With all the coupon codes and coupons you should never pay over $125 for a week. You must rent from Hertz!

If you haven't already, you might try 2 weekly rates at Alamo. ...there are some weekly codes and freeday codes out there (Costco, etc) that might help you get a better deal. You'll have to join their Insiders Club....free. Also, you'll have to play the game and return the car and pick up the car at the same time when the first week is over.

Hope this helps.

Interesting.

In this thread, I've posted twice. I've written that I don't think rental car rates are too high, and I've explained why Vegas politics has compelled public officials to find ways to tax tourists instead of locals, such as through increased car rental levies.

If those are negative opinions, well, I guess we understand that term differently.

To each his own.
My guess is rhouse meant contrary. Or at least I hope so.

"Taxation without representation." Trite. Here's how you get representation: Write every elected of consequence in NV, and contact all the hotels and restaurants and clubs you frequent up there, and let 'em know you are going to take your vacation dollars elsewhere. Of course, you'll then need to do the same wherever "elsewhere" is since they'll have TOT and other reprehensible vigs.
P.S. You want spendy, rent in Seattle. Vegas is cheap cheap cheap. And Hawai'i is even cheaper!!!!
