Rental Cars

This might be a stupid question, we have never rented a car when we were in Vegas. Not sure with all the traffic if we could find our way around. I husband said that all the rental cars now have a gps system, so you can't get lost. I'm not too sure. Can anyone help with this question.

We have rented a car the last few years. We would not be happy now if we didn't rent a vehicle. The gps is extra rental so if you have one just pack it. Our theory is that as long as you can see the Stat you are not lost. Point towar the strip and you will eventually get there. The advantage of having a rental car is that you are not limited to just the strip, there are great casinos out there. The traffic could be a problem but no more than any other city. We look forward to renting each year and exploring the outskirts of town. If you rent be sure to visit Red Rock Canyon, just beautiful.

I have been there at least 20 times and have never been without a car! Get yourself a good map of Las Vegas. Also, most of the magazines in las vegas have maps in them. A little tip: There is a road that runs parallel to the strip on both sides that has less than than half of the traffic on the strip I use them all the time. I can run from the Stratosphere to the Rio in 5-10 mins.

Half the time when I go to Vegas I drive and the other half I fly but I always rent a car. I also use the techniques of navigating by the Strat tower. it actually works very well. The basic maps that are in the freebie mags are usually enough to get me around. I never spring for the GPS. The one other thing I do is to print out mapquest directions to and from major places I know I am going to hit. Never have felt totally lost and I am also a navigational idiot. The car opens up a lot more possible adventures.
