rental cars sky high

I'm headed out there in a few weeks, I rented with Turo for the first time.  This is where you rent somebody's extra car for x amount per day....a lot cheaper than any of the car rental places, but it's an older vehicle.  I will let y'all know how it goes.

Duke - I have just completed my rental for my next trip, Aug, 28  - Sept.7. I rented with Fox for $274.00, all in. This rental included one additional day to my original car rental search. ( the Fox quote for my original selected dates of Aug.29 - Sept.7 with this same offer code was $250.54) - I decided to rent for the extra added day which only cost $24 more. I am happy with paying an average of $27/day for my stay. I concurrently checked car rental prices for my Aug.28- Sept.7 period with Kayak, Priceline, and carrentals.com -- they all were $35-40 dollars more than the Fox quote. I hope this has been helpful. Good hunting...

An update - my rental with Fox just got cheaper and I got an extra day - all in for $247.86 versus the $274.00 total I had previously reported. As the date for the my last 3 Vegas trips got closer, Fox continued to reduce the cost of a rental. Moral - don't get locked into a rental car too early, the rental car agencies/sites - Fox, Kayak, Priceline, etc., - ALL of them do drop the rates the closer your date for needing a rental car approaches - at least that has been my experience. If nothing else, I suggest that you keep checking rental car prices - you might surprise yourself and save some money. Good luck.

What kind of car do you get for $274?

Tom - the price dropped to $247.86 for an economy car - if you go to the Fox website, you will find larger vehicles for $10-45 more for the same dates. Use codes - responder1 -or- tpacityspecial for the best discount rates - plug those codes into the "discount" box

I agree with David.  Although i never book economy. prices seem to drop and fox usually has a free upgrade in the evening  What starts at  500 usually ends up under 300 if you are not married to a company

There are several reasons I rent economy; (1) they are usually cheaper, (2) better gas mileage,(3) cheaper to fillup because they use less gas, (4) easier to park, (5) sometimes the rental car agency is out of economy cars and they will give you a bigger car at no extra cost, (6) if you rent economy and want/need a larger car, the agent will offer you an upgrade usually at a reduced price, and (7) I have never really needed a larger vehicle, therefore an economy rental works for me.

have kept looking every day and was able to land a decent deal for my trip - october 2-oct 9 with FOX----$276 all in for a compact suv

today i was able to get a better deal with ACE -----$237 all in for a dealers choice special----

will be by myself so size is not an issue

checked out a map and it looks like they are close to each other and require a 2nd shuttle--a slight inconvenience for what appear to be good deals

plan is to see if i can get the deal with ace-if any issues walk over to fox

am prepared for the hard sell on gas and insurance----have faced thjs in the past--when they puy on the sell i just tell them----NO----BUT---THANK YOU FOR ASKING

Duke, I suggest you keep checking with Fox. My last 3 trips I have rented from them and I got the best rate from them for each trip just prior to my trip - 3 to 4 days before needing the car. Their best rate will be found with the buy-it-now offers. Use code - responder1 - or- tpacityspecial. Do this booking online for these rates. Just enter either code in the box that says "Discount code". I just returned from 10 days in Vegas and I paid Fox  $247. for my rental of a Corolla. I have rented from Ace twice. They have nice cars and are located just a 100 or so yards from Fox in the same off site location. After taking the Airport shuttle to the rental car center, you get off and take the Fox or Ace shuttle to their location - this will add 10-15 minutes to your commute.

have kept looking and found a deal with Easirent------$209 all in------looks like they are in the same general vicinity on las vegas blvd south of the airport rental facility requiring a second shuttle

never heard of this outfit-----

I received an email from autoslash yesterday that included the following Fox discount deals

1) Up to 50% off using code SAVNLA23.  Book by 9/17 and pick-up by 10/31

2) Up to 45% off using code 5DYHDY23. Book by 9/17 and pick-up by 12/19.
