Renting a car - how I get the best price I can find

I have been checking for weeks on Autoslash for my upcoming 13 day trip to Vegas. Today on Autoslash, the best (so far) estimate is $626.75 with Fox. I decided to check Fox online and received an estimate of $482.83 for a standared size car and an estimate of $490.57 for a fullsize Ford Hybrid ( these are the "Pay Now" quotes)- I rented the Hybrid. I have used Fox the last 2 trips and have rented a Ford Hybrid both times because of the estimate of 43/41 mpg. With the outlandish price of gas, I will save money overall by renting the Ford Hybrid when refueling versus the cost of the Standard size car that has an estimate of 25/37 mpg. When using the website, after putting in the reservation details, Fox will display a coupon - click on it and you will see a quote. This quote can be lowered if one clicks on the "City Special" pricing. Doing so for this rental, the price went from $543.88 to a $482.83 quote (for the Standard car)- a savings of $61.00, just for clicking on the "City Special" discount tab. Utilizing the "City Special" tab lowered the pricing for all of the cars  - the Ford Hybrid was lowered $52.00 from $542.00 to $490.57.

Here is the best way to do it. Get a girlfriend that lives in town that drives you around.

I would rather rent a car - it would be cheaper
