to anyone who has rented a car through Priceline, how does it work when you pick up the car at the airport? Do they just use the Priceline printout and you pay that amount, take the car and go?

From my past experiences with Priceline (and all other car rental agencies), - print out your reservation prior to going to get your car, present it at the rental car desk (bring a copy of your insurance -they may ask for it), your driver's license and the credit card you used to make the reservation with. They will pull up your reservation, ask you if you want to upgrade your rental, buy their gas and/or their insurance. Then they will have you sign or initial that you want or don't want their insurance and/or gas. After all of this, they will print out a copy of your reservation (be sure to read it and see if the rental total is what you were quoted when you made the reservation) and give it to you. Then they will tell you where the car is and give you the keys. Your credit card will be needed to make the payment at that time, and there will usually be a hold of some amount added for any other charges you may incur. Make sure you present the credit card to them that you used when making the reservation (if you had to give them the card info when you made the reservation). The money held will be returned to your credit card account after you return your car in the same condition in which it was when you picked it up and with a full tank of gas. I went into detail because I did not know if you had rented a car before. I hope this answers your question.
I typically use AutoSlash to find the best deals, and they invariably send me to Priceline. I've never had any issues.
AutoSlash used to be my go-to site, but the past few months they have been higher than the offerings on Kayak, Priceline and Fox. I check all 3 sites daily in preparation for my visits to Vegas. Fox usually has the lowest prices when using one of their codes.
I guess Costco not good anymore
my son gets discount
Got a Costco/Avis Genesis G70 for three days ending 3/5 for $222 total. Nice ride....it had about 350 miles on it.
The problem with Priceline is it locks you in and its difficult (if not impossible) to modify your reservation once you make it.. This is a big problem with car rentals because the rates flucuate on almost a daily basis. You might think you have a good deal and then check back 2 days later and see you would have saved $30 if you waited.
Usually I'll book-cancel-rebook my rental several times before settling on a rate. I go directly to their websites. More work but it saves money. Also - if you are of the correct age I find AARP has as good (or sometimes better) discount codes than Costco.

Yeah, AARP rates can be pretty good.

There are a surprising number of useful AARP discounts out there. Some motel chains offer 10% discounts. Another one I use is 15% off at Denny's. I also get a break on auto insurance. It's well worth the $20 or so a year for membership.

The 15% at Denny's is a staple discount for my family. The Denny's under the Edgewater Casino is our go to in Laughlin. Really good service and their Chicken Biscuit and Gravy Bowl is really good. Most times, my wife and I will share it and it fills us both up.
