RTC changes

First, the bus routes will be changing starting May 20. The big news is the addition of another express route - the Sahara Express (SX). It runs from Red Rock Station past LV Blvd. and Boulder to the east side of town. It passes by Palace and Boulder Station (kinda sort of) along the way. There are many other, mostly minor, changes, and you can read all about them here.

Also, the RTC is proposing some fare increases. The 2-hour Strip/SDX pass would go to $6 and the 24-hour pass to $8. The 3-day pass would stay at $20. On the other routes, the single ride fare would go from $2 to $2.25. The 2-hour and 24-hour fares would be unchanged. The 5-day pass would be eliminated and replaced with a 15-day pass for $36. Reduced and Paratransit fares are getting hit harder. None of this would be implemented before September. It's now open for public comment. More details are located here.
Thanks for this concise update.

I think RTC is already struggling to deal with paratransit. I was on a 106 from Texas Station to downtown Sunday and there were four people who use wheelchairs onboard. They were traveling independently of one another. I think one chair wasn't even secured in place. I would bet that Las Vegas has an unusually high proportion of people who use wheelchairs, what with it being a cheap city to live in, snowless, and flat.

More cuts to paratransit services could really hurt.
