I was concerned when renting a heavily scratched car this past weekend. The car even had scuffs with indentations on the passenger doors.
When I left the garage I had the attendent fill out the needed paperwork on the damage.
Upon returning, I felt it necessary to tell the return agent about how all the passenger door damage was done previous to my rental and that I have the documentation on it.
His response, "I'm not even going to look at that side of the car. They pay me the same as if I was flipping burgers, then they give me a list of all these things they want me to do with each check-in. Do you really think I'm going to examine the car and get in arguments with people for this pay? Don't worry about it, if they want damage assessments they'd have to pay a lot more."
So, now I know what to expect from rental people.
