Just wanted to see what others prefer when driving from So Cal to Harrahs Tahoe when it's snowing in the Reno/Tahoe area.
We live just north of Los Angeles, so my 3 choices are
395 past Mammoth etc.
5 up to Sacramento and then up 50
5 up to Sacramento and then take 80
my thinking is 80 is probably maintained better than 395 or 50, but my boss skies and has a cabin in South Lake Tahoe and prefers to take the 395 route.
We have chains and husband knows how to drive in the snow.
Other question regarding shuttles/buses running between Reno and Harrah's Tahoe. Due to husband's free play and gift card being at Harrahs Reno and my free play being at Tahoe, he needs to either drive to Reno from Tahoe or take a shuttle. If roads are clear, he'll drive, but I'm thinking it might be worth the $ for him to take a shuttle if it's snowing. Unfortunately each of our offers necessitated an overnight stay to get the free play/gift card. Do the shuttles run when it's snowing and anyone have a preference?
